Community Guidelines (Code of Conduct)

1. Purpose

The purpose of these Community Guidelines is to create a safe, respectful, and supportive space for men to discuss challenges, share experiences, and support one another.

By participating in Roots of Resilience (on and off-line) you agree to follow these guidelines and help maintain a positive environment for all members.


2. Respect Each Other

All members should treat each other with respect and empathy.

We encourage supportive discussion, even when opinions differ. Disagreements are acceptable, but personal attacks are not.

Please:

  • Be kind and supportive
  • Listen to others’ experiences without judgement
  • Respect different backgrounds, beliefs, and perspectives
  • Engage in constructive conversations

3. No Harassment or Bullying

Harassment or bullying of any kind is not tolerated.

This includes:

  • Personal attacks
  • Insults or name-calling
  • Threats or intimidation
  • Repeated unwanted contact
  • Mocking or dismissing someone’s experiences

Users engaging in harassment may receive warnings, suspension, or permanent bans.


4. No Hate Speech or Discrimination

Content that promotes hatred or discrimination will be removed.

This includes attacks based on:

  • Race or ethnicity
  • Religion
  • Sexual orientation
  • Gender identity
  • Disability
  • Nationality

Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected in this community.


5. Avoid Harmful or Dangerous Advice

This community exists to support wellbeing.

Please do not:

  • Encourage self-harm or suicide
  • Promote harmful coping strategies
  • Provide dangerous medical advice
  • Suggest illegal or harmful activities

Members should avoid presenting personal opinions as professional advice.


6. Respect Privacy

Protect your own privacy and the privacy of others.

Do not share:

  • Personal addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Private messages without permission
  • Identifiable personal information about others

Be mindful that content posted in community areas may be visible to other users.


7. No Trolling or Disruptive Behaviour

Disruptive behaviour that harms the community experience is not allowed.

Examples include:

  • Deliberately provoking arguments
  • Posting inflammatory content
  • Spamming or repeatedly posting the same message
  • Posting solely to upset or provoke others

8. Sensitive Topics

This community may discuss difficult topics such as mental health, trauma, relationships, or personal struggles.

When discussing sensitive subjects:

  • Be mindful that others may be vulnerable
  • Avoid graphic descriptions of violence or self-harm
  • Use supportive language where possible

Moderators may remove content that could be harmful or triggering.


9. Moderation

On-line Moderators help maintain a safe environment for everyone.

They may:

  • Remove or edit posts
  • Lock discussions
  • Issue warnings
  • Temporarily suspend accounts
  • Permanently ban users who repeatedly violate the guidelines

Moderation decisions are made to protect the wellbeing of the community.


10. Reporting Problems

If you encounter behaviour that violates these guidelines, please report it.

You can report issues by:

  • Using the report feature (if available)
  • Contacting a moderator
  • Emailing: admin@rootsofresilience.org.uk

Reports will be reviewed as soon as possible.


11. Consequences for Violations

Failure to follow these guidelines may result in:

  1. Content removal
  2. Warning from moderators
  3. Temporary suspension
  4. Permanent account ban

Serious violations may result in immediate bans.
